AspireLearn Privacy Policy
AspireLearn is a parent-managed learning app that helps families support maths, vocabulary, and revision practice. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices available to parents and guardians who use the app.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information:
Parent account information
We collect information needed to create and manage a parent account, such as name, email address, account identifiers, and sign-in details. If you choose Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In, we may receive account information from that provider as part of authentication.
Child profile information
When a parent creates a child profile, we collect profile information such as the child's name or nickname, year group / grade, avatar selection, and profile identifiers.
Learning and progress information
We collect information generated through use of the app, such as assigned schedules, completed sessions, practice history, scores, accuracy, streaks, XP, badges, and other progress information used to provide reports and learning insights.
Notifications information
If notifications are enabled, we may collect device push notification tokens and related notification settings so we can send app notifications and reminders.
Security and access-control information
We may process account-security information, such as authentication records, session information, access-code metadata, and PIN-related security data used to protect parent or child access.
Camera data
If you use the QR scanning feature, the app requests camera access to scan a child access code. We do not use camera access for advertising purposes.
Diagnostics and technical information
We may collect crash reports, error logs, and limited technical diagnostics to maintain app stability, troubleshoot issues, and improve performance.
Support communications
If you contact us for help, we may collect the information you provide in your support request.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- create and manage parent accounts and child profiles
- authenticate users and protect account security
- deliver learning activities, schedules, and progress tracking
- show reports, streaks, badges, and other learning insights
- send notifications and reminders when enabled
- maintain, debug, secure, and improve the app
- respond to support requests
- comply with legal obligations and protect against misuse or fraud
3. Children's Privacy
AspireLearn is designed to be parent-managed. Parents or legal guardians create and control child profiles inside the app.
We collect limited child-related information needed to provide the service, including child profile details and learning progress data. We do not use child profile data for third-party advertising, and we do not sell personal information. Parents control child profiles, assigned practice, notifications, and account deletion requests.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe we have collected child information in a way that does not comply with your expectations or applicable law, contact us and we will review the request.
4. When We Share Information
We share information only as needed to operate the app and related services. This may include:
- Supabase for authentication, database, and backend data services
- Apple and Google when you use their sign-in services
- Expo and notification delivery providers, including Firebase Cloud Messaging, for push notifications and app delivery features
- Sentry for crash and error monitoring
- service providers who host or support our backend infrastructure
These providers may process information on our behalf under their own terms and privacy commitments.
5. What We Do Not Do
We do not sell personal information.
We do not use the app for cross-app tracking or third-party advertising.
We do not knowingly collect precise location, health data, contacts, or photo-library data through the app.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain active account and child profile information for as long as needed to provide the service.
If you delete your account, we deactivate or soft-delete the related parent and child records and remove the active email from the account record. Some archived records, logs, or backup data may be retained for security, fraud prevention, audit, legal, and system-integrity purposes for a reasonable period.
Push-notification tokens may be removed when you sign out, disable notifications, or when a token becomes invalid.
7. Your Choices
Parents may:
- update account details in the app
- manage child profiles and learning settings
- enable or disable notifications
- request account deletion from within the app
- manage device permissions, such as camera and notifications, through device settings
If you used a third-party sign-in provider, you may also manage that provider connection through your Apple or Google account settings.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Processing
Your information may be processed in countries where our service providers operate. By using AspireLearn, you understand that information may be transferred to and processed outside your immediate place of residence, subject to applicable safeguards.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, provide notice inside the app or through other reasonable means.
